The system is based on 10 symbols. This free language course also covers the Arabic letters Seen ( س ) and Sheen ( ش ), the 12th and 13th letters in the Arabic alphabet. Learn how to differentiate between these two letters and use them in sentences.

Indo-Arabic numerals are a 10-number series ranging from 0 to 9, corresponding to digits in the decimal number system. They originated in India and were introduced to Europe in the 12th century through the works of Middle Eastern mathematicians. This course introduces you to the Indo-Arabic numeric system, the world's most widely used numbering system. It begins by introducing Arabic numerals, used throughout the Arabic-speaking world, before moving onto letters in the Arabic language.
The following section presents the letter Seen, the 12th letter in the Arabic alphabet. You will discover that the letter Seen sounds like ‘S’ in English. Next, you will explore the letter Seen with short and long vowels. We will also explain the letter Seen (س) with Tanween Fat7ah, Damah and Kasrah. Arabic letters can have four different forms corresponding to an initial, middle, or final. You will learn how the letter Seen links to the letter before or after.
The 13th letter of the Arabic alphabet, Sheen, is explained in the final section. In English, it sounds like the sound 'sh' in English. You'll learn about short and long vowels, as well as Tanween, for the letter Sheen.
